Grilled Sardines with Lemons

Grilled sardines with lemon are a delicious and healthy dish that's perfect for a summer BBQ or a light dinner.

Ingredients

  • 8 fresh sardines, cleaned and gutted

  • 2 lemons, sliced

  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper.

  3. Brush the sardines with the olive oil mixture, making sure to coat them well on both sides.

  4. Place the sardines on the grill or grill pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and crispy.

  5. While the sardines are grilling, place the sliced lemons on the grill or grill pan and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until they are slightly charred and caramelized.

  6. Serve the grilled sardines hot with the charred lemon slices on the side.
